These eight statements summarize the biblical convictions that shape our preaching, worship, leadership, and life together. They are not everything we believe, but they are some of the convictions visitors notice most quickly.

Why We Created This Wall

Churches often use words like "biblical," "gospel-centered," and "welcoming," but those words can mean different things to different people. We created this wall to answer one simple question: "Who Is Bethel Church PCA?" Our hope is that these eight statements help you understand our church and determine whether Bethel is a place where you can faithfully worship, grow, and serve.

1. Gospel for Growth

We never outgrow our need for the gospel.
The gospel is not only for becoming a Christian—it is also for growing as one. Every sermon and every aspect of church life points us back to Christ and His finished work.
Why this matters: Many churches emphasize the gospel primarily as the message that saves us. At Bethel, we believe the gospel also transforms believers throughout the Christian life.

2. Grace Before Obedience

God's grace in Christ is the foundation of the Christian life.
God does not accept us because we obey. We obey because God has already accepted us through Christ. Obedience is the grateful response to God's grace.
Why this matters: We emphasize that obedience flows from God's grace, not toward it.

3. One Story, One Savior

The Bible tells one unified story of redemption centered on Christ.
From Genesis to Revelation, Scripture unfolds God's covenant of grace fulfilled in Jesus Christ. We interpret each passage within that unified story.
Why this matters: We read the entire Bible through the lens of God's redeeming work in Christ.

4. Worship Shaped by Scripture

Our worship is shaped by God's Word through prayer, preaching, singing, and the sacraments.
We believe God directs how He is to be worshiped. We emphasize the ordinary means of grace: the Word, the sacraments, and prayer.
Why this matters: Our worship is intentionally simple and centered on Scripture.

5. Historic Christian Faith

We stand in the historic Protestant and Reformed tradition.
Our beliefs are rooted in Scripture and faithfully summarized in the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms.
Why this matters: We seek to preserve and proclaim the historic Christian faith.

6. Members Shepherded by Elders

Elected elders provide leadership, accountability, and care.
Jesus is the Head of the church. Qualified elders shepherd the congregation, and as a PCA church our elders are accountable through the Presbytery as well as the local Session.
Why this matters: Connectional accountability strengthens doctrinal integrity and faithful leadership.

7. Known and Cared For

Church membership connects believers to shepherding, encouragement, accountability, and care.
We believe Christians are meant to be known, encouraged, prayed for, and spiritually cared for within a local church.
Why this matters: Membership provides a framework for pastoral care and mutual encouragement.
Key Scripture (ESV): Hebrews 10:24–25

8. Life Together

We share not only the gospel, but our lives.
Church is more than attending Sunday worship. We seek to worship, pray, serve, show hospitality, encourage one another, and bear one another's burdens as members of Christ's body.
Why this matters: The Christian life is lived together throughout the week, not only on Sundays.
