Serve Our Community
Mentor an At-Risk Student
Our outreach team is encouraging Bethel members to reach our community with the love of Christ by mentoring at-risk students at nearby Mitchell Elementary. The school counselor at Mitchell has invited our members to serve as mentors, and new mentors are welcome anytime. Please talk to Pastor Heuss if you are interested. Mentors meet with their student for a half-hour over lunch, one day a week. Days and times are flexible.
Build a Shed
Another way to show the love of Christ to our community is to help build a shed. We work with our denomination's Disaster Response to build sheds for victims of natural disasters in our area. When a tornado or hurricane strikes, people lose their homes. Sheds provide safe places to store their belongings as they rebuild their lives. We build sheds on site at Bethel in advance and store them, so that when natural disasters strike, we have sheds ready to be deployed when people need them most.
Basic constructions skills are helpful, but certainly are not required. All you need to be able to do is turn a screw!
Volunteer at Awana
There are various ways to serve in our Awana ministry. Volunteers meet at church on Wednesdays at 6:15PM. Awana ends by 8:30PM. Contact Alie Butterfield for details.
Volunteer in Nursery
We need nursery workers to provide a welcoming and safe environment for children, especially for our visitors. When children are well-cared for, parents are able to worship with peace of mind. It is a great way to serve "the least of these."
Teach or Help in Sunday School
We always have a need for Sunday School teachers and helpers. Teachers prepare and teach lessons weekly. Never taught before? We provide curriculum, training before the beginning of the year, and support during the year. Our goal is for you to have a great experience serving as a Sunday School teacher. You can also serve as a Sunday School helper. Helpers assist teachers on Sunday mornings, sitting in on classes and helping students participate and complete activities.
